Last Spring, I decided to experiment with self-publishing using a couple of my stories that had been previously published. Now, I am considering self-publishing a previously unpublished novelette (longer than a short story, shorter than a novel), but first, I want to ask you for feedback on the experiment so far. I’m not so much looking for comments on the stories themselves (although those are always welcome too). Instead, I’m more interested in what you, as readers, think about the self-publishing aspects: cover design, ebook format, description, publishing platforms–Amazon and Smashwords (and by extension, Barnes & Noble, Apple iBookstore, Sony, Diesel, Kobo, and a few others), or anything else. Even if you haven’t read the stories, you can still comment on any or all of these.
And while we’re on the subject, let me know what you’d be interested seeing on this site. So far, I’ve mostly done publication updates and news, but if you would find it useful and/or interesting, I would be willing to expand to include other things.
I would appreciate any feedback or suggestions. Thanks!
I use my Kindle a lot, please put it in that format 🙂
Thanks for the feedback, Sue! There are actually a couple of options for Kindle with the way I’ve self-published so far: If you get the ebook from Smashwords, you can download it in a variety of formats, including mobi which is the one Kindle uses. If you get it from Amazon, it is in Kindle format as well. I’ll make sure I keep publishing them in Kindle-friendly formats so you can keep reading!
I like the idea of self publishing, it gives another way for readers to choose what they want to read instead of just what a publisher wants to publish. I look forward to your next cover art too!
Thanks for the feedback, Mike! I’m glad you find self-publishing useful–and that you like the cover art too!
